Mama - Movie Review

MAMA - Movie Review

A distraught man, having the worst financial crisis of his life kills his business partners and also his wife, then takes his children Victoria ( 3 years old) and Lily (one year old) with him. Their car crashes into the woods and the surviving father-daughters took shelter in an abandoned cabin. He then tries to execute his evil plan: to murder her daughters then commit suicide. But just as he was about to shot Victoria, a shadowy figures pulls him outside and breaks his neck. This mysterious creature tossed cherries to the girls and that's what kept them alive. Five years later, a rescue party organized by their uncle (Lucas) found the children alive but behaving like animals. The kids are then put under the psychiatric care of Dr. Gerald Dreyfuss. The doctor agreed with Lucas & his girlfriend (Annabel) and supported their custody claim instead of the kid's other aunt in the exchange of continued contact with the girls to conduct research on the mysterious creature they called MAMA. Victoria makes progress easily but Lily remains hostile. Then the mysterious figure appeared in the doorway and attacked Lucas bringing him to a comatose state. Annabel even though not related to the girls finds herself alone to take care of them. Aside from creepy nightmares and creepy appearances, the figure also killed the doctor and the children's aunt later. Annabel then searched for the truth --- all about MAMA and the disturbing story that she has.
REVIEW:
The film which was produced by Guillermo Del Toro was really really creepy at first, I mean look at those girls, crawling on the walls like the possessed girl in the exorcist, and yeah they crawled really fast like the infected people in REC.

The acting was also okay, and the story is deep and dramatic (oh, and touching)  but as the film reached the supposed to be climax, I felt incompletely hanged. There's gotta be more (more deaths :) ) I mean there has to be, but alas the film ended sadly, Lily taken by Mama (or Lily chose to be with her). Well there's this numbers of hair raising scenes but that doesn't really hit me hard. But this film isn't bad at all. Maybe 6/10.
